and the winners are…

So, I have a few different diseases. I know I’ve mentioned at least one of them before. The All or Nothing Disease. I thought I have found, not a cure, but at least a treatment…although my last few weeks of non-running and non-weight loss have proven otherwise. In case any of you are wondering, I am still doing WW and I am still running 26.2 miles next Saturday. That’s right, folks, eight days and counting.

I digress. We were discussing my diseases. Another one is the Laundry Folding disease. I’m discovering that this disease is much less rare than once assumed. In fact, it’s bordering on pandemic. Then there’s the I Want, I Buy disease. This one keeps me awake at night. But the disease that is affecting me right now is the I Don’t Ever Win Anything and Hate It So I Don’t Like Having to Pick Winners Because It Means There Are Losers and That Sucks and I Can’t Stand Leaving People Out disease. The problem with this disease is that, like the I Want, I Buy disease, it often stretches me further than my means. In this case, however, it will not. But, I am limited by iTunes. Now that you are all asking yourselves what the heck I am talking about, I’ll explain it in simple terms.

iTunes allows you to make seven copies of any one playlist on cd. So, I decided, since I hate not winning, that I would max out my winners, which means SEVEN of you will be the lucky recipients of my fabulous mixes (okay, so you may hate them, but whatever). And the seven lucky winners are:

  1. Robyn
  2. Jenny
  3. Elisa
  4. Leanne
  5. Amy
  6. Lucy
  7. Anne

If all of you can email your addresses to me (I promise not to sell them to anyone) at chloe.elizabeth@yahoo.com, I will be putting your cds in the mail on Monday. I also promise to include that playlists so that you can know what you are listening to.

Thank you all so much for participating. It was really fun to hear from some of my lurkers who don’t normally comment…and I have loved reading your blogs, as well.

true friend on a monday morning

I got a phone call from my friend Dawn this morning (we work together) telling me she was going to stop at Sonic on her way into work. She wanted to know if I wanted anything. I almost cried with joy! How did she know that’s what I needed? I had tried to get out the door early this morning for that very purpose…but it didn’t happen. For those of you not addicted to caffeine, you will likely not understand how truly fabulous this was.

It’s going to be a good day!

blog party…

So, I stepped out of my comfort zone and went to a blog party where I knew no one (well, other than stalking their blogs). I was teetering back and forth when Anne (Anne who I have yet to meet but will in less than two weeks) told me that I had to go so I could meet Annalisa (below) and Lori (below, below), among others.

me and Annalisa

Lori and me
me and Lori

Well, went I did and it was quite fun. Annalisa and Lori were just as fun as Anne thought they would be, plus I got to meet Annalisa’s cute sister’s, Laralee and Crystalyn. I think this will be the beginning of multiple, beautiful friendships. It was so fun to see all of these people in real life, people who I have admired, nay stalked, for a while. These women are even more amazing and beautiful in real life as they are in their blogs.

Annalisa, Crystalyn, me and Laralee

For more on the evening, you can visit Jill’s blog…she’s the grand master of the Blog Party. Thanks again, Jill, for a fabulous evening.

dear you…

Dear Justin’s neighbor,

Who taught you that it’s okay to stop by and ask for my brother to help you hang your wine rack on a Sunday afternoon? Without calling? And who didn’t teach you that when you see that your neighbor has company (aka me), you should retract your request? And who taught you that once my brother was at your house and had finished what you originally asked him to do, that it would be okay to ask him to do a few more things? Just curious…because I’d like to teach that person a few things.

A seriously concerned and irritated sister of your way too nice neighbor

Dear Justin,

Who taught you to be so nice and to always be willing to do things for others? Okay, so it was Mom. But seriously, you were sick and I was in town. You really can say ‘no’. I promise, it’s okay. Having said that, I really do love that you are like that and hope that I will be so lucky to someday marry someone who possesses that quality.

Love,

Your favorite sister (I won’t tell if you won’t)

Dear Chocolate Tuxedo Cream Cheesecake,

Thank you for being worth the majority of my FLEX points for this week. I debated for a while when we were at The Cheesecake Factory, but finally gave in because you have never once let me down. Saturday was not different. All of that chocolatey, creamy goodness did not disappoint. If I had to marry a cheesecake, it would be you! My taste buds thank you and I thank you!

Sincerely,

A serious chocoholic who needed a little fix

Dear loud, drunk people at the back of the plane coming back from Vegas last night,

SHUT UP!!!

Thank you,

Someone who has to work for a living

Dear Southwest Airlines,

Thank you for almost always being late. Especially when I’m already on the late flight and I’m not scheduled to get to SLC until 12:15 am. Those lost thirty minutes of sleep last night made for a great nap today during my lunch hour and I always have the best dreams when I’m napping (best, as in funky, weird, scary and altogether unnerving). Without those lost minutes of sleep, I might not have napped, or dreamt that I was dating a Japanese Scott Baio. Yeah, don’t ask me. Seriously. Thank you.

Sincerely,

A newly situational insomniac

And last, but not least…

Dear Spike (the fish who sits on my desk while his owner is away defending his dissertation…a fish who will be mine when said owner finishes his internship…a fish who will then be called “Stanley” because I have always wanted a pet named “Stanley”),

Thank you for being a beta fish who will fight with his own reflection so that when I put my Diet Coke can up to your bowl, you get ready for battle. This provides me with minutes of entertainment and “show and tell” for any visitors I might have at work. You have no idea how helpful you are, or how happy I am to fish-sit for you.

Sincerely,

A happily employed office manager who occasionally needs a little distraction
