I know I promised more Chicago, but I must get to bed because tomorrow I’m going here to meet him.
My life is truly insane…and I love it.

One of my favorite things about my fabulous friends is their willingness to just make things happen (i.e., go on random trips at the drop of hat).
Here is how it went down. One afternoon in January I was bored with my studying and decided to look at ticket prices to Chicago (it had been a year since I saw the fabulous KP). Well, tickets were cheap, so I purchased one…after quickly checking to make sure that weekend worked. I then sent my itinerary to both KP and Sarah, knowing that Sarah had been wanting to go out to Chicago, too. Ten minutes later, I had an itinerary for Sarah’s flight. And this is how it’s done. It’s how I live my life. As a boy from my past always used to say, “Never invited. Always welcome.”
These are the types of friendships that I just love.
The photos are how that love manifested itself Saturday morning (aka Valentine’s Day); KP, Sarah, and me in the photo booth. Who doesn’t love a photo booth?
And yes, there is more to come; movies, restaurants, and lots of cupcakes.
It had been about a year since I changed the look of the blog. I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, but was trying to figure out a background so that I could have Sarah create a new banner for me. Yes, I’m just lucky enough to have a fabulous friend to design blog banners for me (although to my credit, I try to only change it once…maybe twice…a year). But this weekend she had her computer with her, so I just decided to see what she came up with and go from there.
She threw something together in about five seconds. It was simple, and classy, and exactly what I was going for; the beauty of having a BFF who totally knows me. But then, what to do for a background.
Well my darling sister-in-law, Cherity has become somewhat of a master of Photoshop, so I asked her if she could take the color from the banner (love RGB codes) and create a background. At first we tried a texture, but the look just wasn’t right. She suggested polka-dots. I thought the idea of them was great, but wanted something just a little retro, and so the stars were born. The yellow/orange color was added a little later, as I switched colors of fonts to find a look.
I seriously love it. I was considering just going with plain white, but this is much more me.
Thanks Sarah and Cherity for being so generous!
And this is the end of my trip to Europe…over a month later.
I’ve been to London before and I liked it fine, but this trip I fell in love.
We spent some quality time at Leicester Square. This is where discount show tickets can be purchased. And how many did we see in those last few days? FOUR! So, five in total. (We saw Les Mis at the beginning of the trip).

I love that Erika loves theater because it means we went lots. What did we see? Carousel – not fantastic but I remember watching it as a kid at my grandma’s house (my grandma also loves musical theater) so I was excited to see it. Wicked – phenomenal again! Hairspray – absolutely fabulous live…except for a small issue with American diction. And my favorite of the week (not including Wicked because I’d already seen it)? Billy Elliott. Incredible.
And…a food picture. Why I didn’t take my camera to Chicago is beyond me, but I didn’t. How I love taking pictures of food! Almost as much as I like to eat it. This was at this darling French patisserie just off of Piccadilly Square. It was lovely…and the owner was there so I got to chat him up in French. I so need to move back to Europe.
And this was New Year. Seriously. Our hotel was right by the London Eye (as seen in this photo all lit up by fireworks). It was INCREDIBLE. New Year is not my favorite holiday (I don’t hate it…I just think it’s overrated), so spending it in London was fantastic!
Why yes…we do look exhausted. Thanks for asking.
And in case you were wondering where my darling cousin is in these pics…she was back in California. Her trip was just a bit shorter than ours.
So, I won the song off, but apparently people are not huge fans of either of the songs Katie or I chose…which is just fine. Thanks to those of you who voted. And here are a few of the other songs I was considering.
