i’m really sorry your mom blew up, ricky

  1. I am grateful for chance meetings in the bookstore. I ran into this random boy that used to be in my ward but moved to Boston (as I discovered today). He wants to go out tonight. I really shouldn’t, but who am I to pass on a date with a nice, French speaking male. Seriously, the French gets me every time. ETA: While I did want to go out, I forgot that I had talked to my dad about going out to dinner and since I’m out of town the rest of the weekend, my dad won.
  2. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to work with Sowers of Hope.
  3. I am grateful for my family’s Old Navy Christmas P.J. tradition. Justin is ordering them all today and I’m excited to have new ones. This year, the pants are gray with red and white candy canes.
Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend… when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present — love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure — the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.

  1. Yes, it’s from Better Off Dead. One of my favorite movies of all time. And the title came from a long train of thought that started with my French speaking friend, which led my head to “French fries, French bread…”, which lead me to think about all of those lines I love. And voila!

  2. “Go that way, very fast. If something gets in your way, turn.” One of the most quotable movies of all time. I’m not sure what it has to do with your post, unless it’s the French chick who can’t pronounce “tentacles”. Anyway, have fun on your date! Uh, I mean, have a bon temps. Or something. And yay to Old Navy jammies! I just ordered some for my kids, too.

bueller?... bueller?... bueller?
